Northwood held their inaugural NCC Summer Golf Day at Batchworth Park., courtesy of some excellent organisation by Tom Brockton
Bryan "Chuck Norris" Ward triumphed in spectacular style at the inaugural NCC Summer golf day at Batchworth Park. Chuck's 4 under par 68 was good enough for 45 points and victory by 4 points from guest Gareth Jones. Craig Nichols and Tom Brockton were joint 3rd with 40 points after rounds of 76 and 78 respectively. Dicko has now ordered Chuck to repeat this feat with the bat and score 68 on Saturday when the 3rd XI travel to Weston.
A special thanks to our chefs for the day Steve Wareham and Kevin Burn for laying on a magnificent spread at NCC in the evening and to Tom Brockton for organising such an enjoyable day, and managing not to win his own competition!
Northwood entertained the Cricket's Club of London at Ducks Hil Road. "Winning" the toss, Northwood elected to bat and the lowest score was Wattie on 42 who was caught atheletically by the guy at gully who played alongside Barry Miller... Ranj, Brockers and Nuss all got half centuries and McPie would also have done so had Ash (loaned to the oppo for the day) not stopped his shot from going for 6 (still dropped him though!).
CCOL were slightly understrength as some tight bowling from Raj Nilesh and John Clifford meant that runs were extremely hard to get. Some interesting dismissals (or not!) followed and eventually CCOL were dismissed for 151.
It was an excellent day, with the opposition stating how much they enjoyed the game. An excellent lunch was provided by Margaret Nicholson and another curry by Nilesh was particularly enjoyed by the opposition. They are keen to return and savour the delights of Northwood Cricket Club. (Minus you know who..!)
Northwood entertain The Cricketer's Club of London on Thursday 4th June at Ducks Hill Road. This is an all day game starting at 11am. It promises to be an excellent day, with Nilesh Patel providing post match food. Please turn up to support your club
Every Wednesday at 7.15 (for a 7.30 start) at Northwood Cricket Club, Nick "Jonte" Nicholson will be leading us in a few fielding drills to hone our fielding skills. We all know we are in need of such practice so please come down for about an hour of serious practice plus a few laughs. It is also an excellent excuse to increase club funds through a few beers afterwards.
The 2009 Fixtures are now on line together with match reports for every game. Please note that the First Team start times are all a half an hour earlier than stated, ie all games are now 1pm start until later in the season.
